Kara-Buura is a raion (district) of Talas Province, in north-western Kyrgyzstan. It is said to have frequently been haunted by the ghost of the Peoples of The Pit, a legendary nomadic northern Tajikistan community, ill-fated to be trapped by within a so-called Village of the Dead, a place similar to that described by Rudyard Kipling, from his story titled "The Strange Ride of Morrowbie Jukes" published during his early period.
